The Velvet Glove was the Flag Ship of the Horde Armada and the residence of Horde Prime. During the final battle with Horde Prime, it was transformed by She-Ra with the growth of foliage, such that it resembled a huge tree in space.
Appearance[]
The Velvet Glove is an enormous dark green space needle with various gigantic white braces and many windows, many of them tinted green. It was guarded by lots of Horde drones with dangerous lasers.
Layout[]
The throne room has been seen with large screens that show various areas at once. There is also a dining room, prison cells, a teleport room, a cloning lab and a trophy room where Horde Prime keeps souvenirs from planets he conquered and/or destroyed.
According to Wrong Hordak the ship was designed so that only those connected to the Horde Hive Mind could successfully navigate its interior.
Equipment[]
The ship has a teleportation transport system. It can create an adaptive atmosphere for Horde Prime and his army of clones. There are large screens that show live video footage. It has an enormous computer server and a cloning facility. It has a beam for for capturing approaching enemy ships.
History[]
Season Three[]
Horde Prime was sitting on his throne when he received Hordak's distress signal, and plotted a course. This is the first appearance of the Velvet Glove, but the ship doesn’t appear for a fair few episodes after.
Season Four[]
At the end of “Destiny Part 2”, the Armada arrived at Etheria, and Hordak was beamed up to the ship along with Glimmer and Catra. While Hordak was taken away after being purged of “imperfections”, Horde Prime made Glimmer and Catra his "guests".
Season Five[]
Many of Season Five's events took place on the Velvet Glove, where Glimmer and Catra were being held captive by Horde Prime. Both were rescued and taken back to Etheria.
Later, Adora used Mara's failsafe to unleash the magic stored in the Heart of Etheria. This not only transformed the planet to a magnificent splendor, but also caused vegetation to appear all over the ship turning it into a colossal tree that now orbits Etheria.
Trivia[]
- The ship was never referred to as the ‘Velvet Glove' in the show itself but was revealed by ND Stevenson in an online Q&A.[1][2]
