The Black Garnet is one of the six known Runestones in Etheria. The Black Garnet is currently located in Fright Zone, where Shadow Weaver used it as her source of magical power; later, Hordak took it from her and passed it down to Catra and Entrapta. It belonged to Scorpia's family, who gave the Runestone to the Horde after Hordak arrived on Etheria. Scorpia was able to reconnect to her ancestral runestone shortly after siding with the Rebellion.

Scorpia connected to the Black Garnet with Glimmer's help and used its powers to subdue Horde bots and soldiers and blast them with electrical kinetic energy. Her connection to the Black Garnet put the Heart of Etheria in balance and activated the Sword of Protection, nearly destroying Etheria. Fortunately, She-Ra broke the blade of the sword and prevented the apocalypse.

Powers and abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Black Garnet empowerment: The Black Garnet is able to provide power to whomever is connected to it, granting a variety of powers.
    • Electrokinesis: The Black Garnet appears to primarily provide power over electricity. This allows the user to generate and manipulate it in variety of ways. This ability appears to only be granted to the one who rightfully connects with the Runestone.
  • Erasing Memory: When the Black Garnet is in connection with Shadow Weaver, it somehow allows her the power to erase memories.

Trivia[]

  • In "Flowers for She-Ra", when drawing power from the Black Garnet, Shadow Weaver insists that it will not "refuse" her. This implies that, despite being able to draw power from the Runestone, it is able to reject her in some way, to an extent. This indicates that The Black Garnet is still loyal to Scorpia's family.
  • Shadow Weaver used the Black Garnet to subdue and torture Glimmer, which had the side effect of damaging Glimmer's connection to her own Runestone, the Moonstone.
  • Entrapta, Catra and Scorpia used the Black Garnet as an access point to weaken all Etheria's runestones, causing planet-wide chaos and destruction. The only thing that fixed this was the princesses working in unity with the Sword of Protection.
  • Garnet is calcium iron silicate in real life and comes in many colors, typically red, but can be orange, green, yellow, purple, black, or brown. Blue garnets are extremely rare.[1]
  • The Black Garnet seems to be one of the largest runestones, possibly the largest.
