The All-Princess Ball, commonly called Princess Prom, is an exquisite ball that is held every ten years on Etheria.

Description[]

All of Etheria's Princesses are invited to attend with a "plus one". The ball is neutral ground, meaning that no conflict is allowed and anyone may attend regardless of their affiliation. There are many rules to follow when attending the ball; these rules are sent to each attendee and strict compliance is expected, listed on the invitation message, a very long scroll.

History[]

Past[]

The exact number of times this event has been held is unknown, though it can be assumed that it had been occurring well before Glimmer was born, as Bow remarks that it has been going on for "centuries."

Glimmer notes that she has been waiting years to attend, as it only happens once a decade.

Glimmer strongly implies that the host kingdom rotates from year to year.

Season One[]

We learn about the Princess Prom in the eponymous episode "Princess Prom" where the ball was held in The Kingdom of Snows.

Glimmer has been looking forward to it for years.

Adora and Catra each view attendance at the Prom as an opportunity. Adora seeks to make alliance with the Kingdom of Snows for the Rebellion. Catra aims to capture Adora and impress Hordak. Neither one is entirely successful.

Etiquette[]

There is an extensive list of etiquette rules for attendance at the Prom, and each invitee receives a scroll detailing all of this beforehand. The table of contents for it begins:[1]

  • I. Attire
  • II. Rules for Greeting the Hostess
    • a. Expected Curtsy Depth
    • b. Proper Stair Descending Etiquette
  • III. Acceptable Demeanor
    • a. Yawning Procedure (Only in Case of Medical Emergency
    • b. Slouching Protocols
  • IV. Dance Moves
    • a. Acceptable
    • b. Unacceptable
    • c. Required

Violence at the Prom is strictly forbidden and will result in revocation of one's invitation and expulsion from the host kingdom (perhaps permanently).

An invitee is allowed to bring a plus-one companion along, who need not be a princess.

Decadent food is served, designed to be appealing to members from all the different kingdoms.

There are multiple formalized dances, which involve many changes of partners.

OFFICIAL GREETING TO THE HOST and RESPONSE:

  • Princess Prom Double Trouble cameo
"Revered hostess, we come into your hall under the ancient rules of hospitality, bringing greetings from [visiting kingdom]."
  • "You are welcome in [the host kingdom] under the ancient rules of hospitality. Leave conflict at the door and please enjoy the ball."
