PORTAL TECHNOLOGY[]

The portal appears to open

Portal technology

Mara and the First Ones knew how to use portal technology as she must have used Light Hope's portal tech, hijacking the First Ones’ attempt at using the portal one thousand years ago. Light Hope knew how to use portal tech the entire time she was on Etheria and could use it at will. Hordak built a portal machine that constantly failed, but Entrapta enhanced his machine with engineering upgrades and First Ones' tech, which eventually worked once the Sword of Protection was placed in the portal machine.

Types of portals[]

  • First Ones portals used the power of the Heart of Etheria to move entire planets; it is how Mara hid Etheria in Despondos. It could only be used for this purpose when the planet was balanced with all five elemental princesses accessing their runestones while She-Ra wielded the First Ones Sword of Protection. When not at full capacity it was used by Light Hope when she opened a small portal, reached across the universe and brought Adora to Etheria. Entrapta revealed this in Destiny: part 2.
  • Horde portals used an unknown tech. Hordak built one out of spare parts from his wrecked ship and what he could find of First Ones tech. His portal also needed the First Ones Sword of Protection to work but only succeeded in sending a message to Prime and unfortunately caused time to fold in on itself, destroying all of reality within Despondos.

PORTAL HISTORY[]

  • A thousand years ago, Mara used Portal tech to bring Etheria to Despondos. She used the constellation Serenia to guide her portal's destination and landed her ship in the Crimson Waste
  • Thirty to fifty years ago, Hordak "accidentally" fell through a portal and crashed on Etheria.
  • Later he developed portal tech, he either arrived on Etheria knowing how to make and use it or learned how to build and use it after falling through. His tech constantly failed but he kept trying. In Season Four he told Catra that Horde Prime knows how to use portal tech.
  • Fifteen to eighteen years ago, Light Hope opened a portal to Adora's home and brought her to Etheria as a baby. Soon after that Hordak found baby Adora and brought her to the Fright Zone.
  • In Season Three, Catra opened a portal with Hordak's machine that was enhanced with First Ones' tech by Entrapta. The enhanced portal machine caused reality to fold in on itself. Hordak managed to send a message through the portal and Horde Prime did receive it. Queen Angella closed the portal by sacrificing herself, an act which either killed her or trapped her between Despondos and normal space.
  • In Season Four, Light Hope used the Heart of Etheria to re-open the portal that Mara closed one thousand years ago, bringing Etheria out of Despondos, no longer safe from the power-hungry Horde Prime.
