Pookas are vicious, dog-like pack animals native to Beast Island.
Appearance[]
The distinctive feature of pookas are the large, singular glowing pink eyes that cover the majority of their faces. When erect, they appear similarly to how a dog might, standing on two legs, but their movements and long tails give them a feline appearance in motion. Their side-ways jointed forelegs allow them to cling to sheer surfaces or even to hang upside down, and when opening their mouths, side-jointed mandibles emerge from between sharp fangs. They also have a thin coat of purplish-black around their bodies and dark teal around their face and the ends of their arms.
Behavior[]
Pookas are fairly intelligent and work in packs to hunt, surround, and kill prey on Beast Island. With their dark bodies, they blend in well with the dark landscape of Beast Island, and will typically approach and surround their prey imperceptibly, revealing themselves only when spotted or when their prey bolts. They have been known to hem in prey so that they flee toward the center of the island, where the signal is strongest and most likely to incapacitate them, leaving them vulnerable. Though this creature may be hostile to prey, it can be easily scared off by a monster larger than it, such as the Beast Island Snake Monster and Entrapta's Beast Island robot.

Pookas closing in
On their trek inland in search of Entrapta, King Micah became aware of the pookas hunting him, Bow, Adora, and Swift Wind. He launched a sorcerer's flare into a patch of shadows, revealing a horde of reflective eyes stalking invisibly toward them. They quickly fled, with the pookas in pursuit, until Micah came to a halt briefly.
Then, a single pooka came forward, which Bow thought to be cute, until it revealed an array of fangs and pounced, spooking Swift Wind and driving the group further inland, toward the island's signal. There, the group nearly succumbed to the signal and delivered a meal to the pookas, until Adora managed to transform into She-Ra and neutralize the signal's effects. The pookas then prepared to close in, but the arrival of Entrapta's automaton drove them off.
Later, when the group prepared to leave with Entrapta, the pookas surrounded them on a bridge, dropping from above on either side to close them off. While Micah managed to blast several away with balls of flame, one particularly agile pooka managed to dodge each of Bow's arrows to close in and bite Micah, injuring him before he blasted it off the bridge to its death. Afterward, before the pookas could overwhelm the group, a large serpentine monster arrived and collapsed the entire bridge, driving the pookas off while it attacked the group.
