He also did freelance illustration for Random House, St. Martin's Press, and Label Magazine. He has also worked with Ryan North on his Kickstarter-funded book To Be or Not to Be, a choose-your-own-adventure book based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. He also served as a writer and background painter for Season Two of Wander Over Yonder.
He worked as a writer for Marvel Comics, and he also made a guest appearance in two episodes of Critical Role. In 2016, he became the executive producer, showrunner, editor, and actor on DreamWorks Animation Television's reboot of She-Ra. In 2015, he started working on the show's "bible," eventually becoming head showrunner and executive producer.
In March of 2020, Stevenson released a graphic memoir about his life leading up to his late 20s called "The Fire Never Goes Out."

- Stevenson voices Spinnerella on the show, as well as the voice message for Serenia in "Return to the Fright Zone."
- Lee Ostertag, Stevenson's spouse, originally came up with the idea that Etheria is a weapon. [1]

Finn, the non-canon future child of Catra and Adora drawn by ND Stevenson
- During a Twitch livestream, Stevenson and his husband created "Finn," a non-canon nonbinary child of Adora and Catra. When asked to draw what Catra and Adora's future child would look like, ND made Finn a blonde and blue-eyed cat person. He has mentioned that they dyed their hair blonde to look more like Adora. Their coloring is slightly lighter brown compared to Catra's. Stevenson mentions that because of Catra and Adora's upbringing, they tended to spoil Finn but were also overbearing, which causes Finn to rebel against them often.[2]
- He has said that the characters he relates to most are Adora, Catra, and Glimmer.[3]
- His favorite episode of the original '80s She-Ra is "Flowers for Hordak."[4]
- While he has stated many things as trivia about the show, ND Stevenson also notes that he and other crew members can just say whatever they want and will sometimes say things just to mess with fans, and that his word does not have to be taken as definitive canon.[5]
- In a June 2020 livestream, Stevenson revealed he had posted a secret fanfiction on Archive of Our Own (Ao3). Aided by his hints, fans concluded that the fanfiction was most likely "Don't Go" by the user Annacharlier, a Catradora-centric one-shot that takes place after "Save the Cat."[6] In 2025, Stevenson's novel Scarlet Morning was released, and in it, there is a shipwreck with the name Anna Charlier, confirming the fanfic is his.[7]
