Flutterina is a character in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power that was introduced in the episode of the same name. She is an alter ego of Double Trouble.

Description[]

Flutterina first appears in the Season Four episode, "Flutterina," in which she helps Adora free Bow and the citizens of Elberon from a Horde trap. There are differing opinions on whether Flutterina exists at all as an actual person. This is because she never appears separate from Double Trouble's performance as her. In the episode "Princess Prom," a character in a pink suit with a similar appearance and height to Flutterina, appears in the background. It is possible that this is the real Flutterina, as Double Trouble can also be seen attending the Princess Prom. Flutterina is in Season Four from episode Three to episode Seven. She also has a cameo in "Perils of Peekablue" when Double Trouble gets knocked out and shape-shifts into several characters one of which being Flutterina.

Appearance[]

"Flutterina" appears as a young girl or child-like woman, roughly around Glimmer's height, with pointed ears and yellow and pink wings. Her magenta hair is done up into two buns, with a short fringe in the front, and longer side bangs framing the sides of her face. She wears a tutu-like dress with dark pink, puffed sleeves and a pink bodice and skirt with a bright yellow under skirt. She is quite thin with a pink complexion, pink eyes, small eyebrows and no visible nose. She also wears short, pink and yellow boots. Around her neck is a golden choker with red gems.

Interestingly enough, Flutterina bears similar features to Double Trouble. They share the same general eye shape, pointed ears, small eyebrows, small noses and slim builds. Additionally, the yellow panels on Flutterina's bodice are very similar to the cut-outs on Double Trouble's bodysuit. Her sleeves are also somewhat pointed, resembling Double Trouble's broad shoulders. Flutterina's choker is somewhat reminiscent of Double Trouble's collar, as well.

Personality and traits[]

While Flutterina is presumed to be merely a disguise rather than a real person, Double Trouble creates an entire personality for her as to remain inconspicuous.

Flutterina is an excitable person, prone to speaking very quickly and whose impulsive nature results in a tendency to taunt opponents. She feigns loyalty to the rebellion, and especially to Glimmer and her friends, though this is a deception to facilitate her role as a spy. Flutterina seems to not think through what she says and is prone to mentioning sensitive subjects while speaking with others, but this is a means for her to manipulate others. She portrays herself as extremely innocent and sweet, and, according to Double Trouble, was made to be "tooth-achingly cute and pink", so as to better fit in with the princesses. Despite Flutterina's cheerful demeanor, she becomes quite anxious when people fight or when faced with uncertainty.

Trivia[]

  • Before her name was confirmed, there was much debate over whether this character would be Flutterina or Sweet Bee.
  • According to Double Trouble, they created Flutterina specifically for the purpose of infiltrating The Rebellion, which may imply there is no real Flutterina in this continuity.
    • It's likely Flutterina does not exist as they are noticeably absent from Elberon in all of their later appearances in the series.
  • In an interview, ND Stevenson explained that they wanted to include Flutterina but couldn't figure out how until coming up with the character Double Trouble. They described Flutterina as being Double Trouble's idea of a parody princess.
  • Jacob Tobia says their headcanon is that Double Trouble sent Flutterina on a scavenger hunt with a 'super great sparkly prize' at the end, and added that there was no prize and Flutterina is still looking. This could explain her absence in Season Five.[1]
  • Additionally, in the same AMA, they guessed that Flutterina was one of the students in Double Trouble's theater classes.[2]
  • It is unknown if Flutterina or any of the other Elberon inhabitants are able to use their wings to fly, although they are able to move them expressively, which Flutterina demonstrates on several occasions.
