My favourite character is Entrapta. As an autistic woman, I unfortunately rarely see characters with my condition in fantasy media, especially female characters. So, to see a female character who was confirmed to be autistic be a hero and an inspirational character made me so happy. Entrapta isn’t perfect - she has flaws, just like the other characters do - but her flaws are realistic and aren’t her entire personality. Entrapta doesn’t mask - she’s always her own nerdy, brilliant self, and I admire her for that. I rarely ever mask, and it makes me happy to see other autistic people being accepted for who they are and not feeling like they have to hide their autism to be accepted. She struggles with social interactions, but she still tries her hardest to be a great friend and helps her friends in the ways she can (like science), which I relate to. I’m also a science nerd, and I share her enthusiasm for science, so I relate to her in that respect too! She also said my favourite quote from the series, which is at the top of my profile page in all wikis I’m on:
”Your imperfections are beautiful!” ~ Entrapta
I love this quote because it shows how diversity is important, and that our differences from the ‘normal’ are beautiful things that make us unique.
Overall, I think Entrapta is a very awesome and inspirational character, and we should all try to be a bit more like her - more accepting of our differences.
