Would you like to read my Day 22 fanfic?
Feel free.
Prisoner
She was falling now.
And it felt like release.
On the edges of consciousness, she realized that no matter what happened now . . .
She would be free.
Images from her life let loose in a flood, and she saw what all of it had been.
A prison.
And she had always been fighting to escape:
. . . from the restrictions imposed on her as a cadet.
. . . from Shadow Weaver's oppression.
. . . from the knife-edge volatility of Hordak's judgement.
. . . from the need for anyone's approval.
. . . from weakness.
. . . from doubt.
. . . from failure.
Finally, she had found a way to escape the whole world, high above Etheria with Horde Prime.
But every time that she thought she had succeeded in finding freedom, sooner or later it revealed itself to be another prison.
No more.
Horde Prime's voice still spoke to her, but it was starting to fade.
Little sister, why did you think to seek freedom where none could be found?
She winced.
It is disappointing . . . and very sad.
All that you had wished was to be free, and yet you spurned the perfect freedom of Prime's benevolent will.
Tears flowed as she turned away.
His voice diminished but persisted in her mind.
Even now, you could rest in the light of Prime . . .
"No," she whispered.
. . . yet you choose darkness and ignorance.
Truly a pitiful waste.
His voice was only the echo of an echo.
However, in my mercy, your suffering will be brief.
She pushed what was left of his voice from her mind.
And she was free.
From somewhere above her, she heard a cry.
She tried to answer.
"Adora,"
Softly.
Like a sigh of relief.
Her last thought before darkness.
