Here is another bonus chapter this week, cherished readers! 😄
Probably not much need for a recap today, since I just posted yesterday!
But, I will just say that Entrapta's friends have definitely not forgotten her in her hour of need!
They are desperately trying to help, but time is running out as the Heart of Etheria gains power!
I'm dedicating today's chapter to my dear friend Noelle ( @WhenYou'reTheOnly1WhoUnderstandsCatra ), who has been really supportive of me and my writing and is a kindred creative soul! 😊
Once again short chapter today, but look out for another one that I shall post about 48 hours from now as the tension builds further!
Please enjoy!
Outside the Chamber of the Heart, the battle continues, as Adora swings her sword again and again to mercilessly batter the doors.
Even with the force field gone, the entrance remains completely unyielding: almost as though it has been welded shut.
Adora’s eyes flash with a relentless determination, and with every blow of the sword, there is a metallic clang and an incrementally-deepening dent.
Adora: [grunting with the effort of each strike] Rrnghah! Rrnghah! Rrnghah! Rrnghaaah!!
On the last blow, the seam between the doors buckles slightly.
Adora staggers back with fatigue, as Hordak and Glimmer step in to grip the edges of the doors. Together they push and pull to try and wedge a gap between the heavy metal panels. They make no noticeable progress, despite the utmost exertion of all their strength. Glimmer steps away a moment, reaching down to grab a discarded bar of metal lying nearby. She returns with this and jams it forcefully into the tiny gap to use as a pry bar. As she leans into it, Hordak pulls on the door in the opposite direction.
Hordak: [straining] Hrrrnnnggh!!!
Adora’s arms quiver with fatigue as she recovers her strength.
Then, all at once, she winces, gritting her teeth. She closes her eyes and reels on her feet as the sword begins to glow in her hands. Her body tenses, and she grips the hilt of the sword more tightly, pushing it downward against an unseen force that seems to will her to raise it.
The surfaces of the doors begin to glow, and Glimmer and Hordak step back in surprise, as if pushed away.
Adora: [crying out] Aaaaaah!! Nnnnnn-noooo!! It’s happening again!!
Hordak notices Glimmer clutching herself and moaning, as a deep magenta light emanates from her. In dismay, Hordak turns to Adora, who lurches forward and nearly falls. She then jams the point of her sword downward, burying it in the ground.
Adora: [struggling in fearful pain] Ngh-aaaaaaaahh!!
