Here is the first of a special set of extra chapters I am posting this week, and I hope you will enjoy the pace and excitement as we near the end of the episode! 😃
Brief Recap:
Glimmer and Adora are struggling to reach Entrapta in the Chamber of the Heart, but their power has suddenly drained from them!
Catra and Swift Wind are on their way, too!
And Bow is doing what he can to help from Bright Moon!
But, for now, Entrapta is alone, with Wink disabled, and her Runestone at full operational power, compelling her to reactivate the most terrible weapon the universe has ever known!
This chapter is dedicated to Opal ( @Red Opal ), a good friend who was missed around here for a long time.
(And I am so glad she's back! 😊)
Time to see how Entrapta is doing as she struggles with a part of her that she never really knew was in her . . .
Entrapta’s fingers continue to fly across the console, as the light in the Chamber of the Heart dims and everything around her powers down with a soft drone.
She beams and speaks quietly, as if she risks breaking a spell.
Entrapta: [murmuring] It’s working.
But then, suddenly, the purple Runestone within her body glows brightly in her chest.
The lower halves of her ponytails wrap swiftly around her body, catching her forearms in their bulk and pulling them in against her.
Entrapta: [In surprise and dismay] Aaaaaaaugh! Oooooh, I was afraid of that!
For a moment, she struggles against the tangles of her thick locks, but her arms remain trapped and bound with the elbows bent, hands secured to her chest.
And the rest of her hair redoubles its motions, playing expertly across the console.
The light begins to brighten as the systems start to revive.
Entrapta looks helplessly around her, and her eyes alight on the tracker pad lying an arm’s-length away from her on the console. Useless and out of her reach.
She frowns sadly.
Entrapta: I’m sorry!
As she speaks, her eyes begin to fill with tears.
Entrapta: I’m soooo sorry! [sighing] But it’s no use. Even if I could shut down the system completely, I couldn’t prevent myself from reactivating the Heart.
She shakes her head.
Entrapta: [resigned] Part of me doesn’t want to stop it. And I can’t fight it because . . . I’m a part of the weapon!
She grits her teeth, the inner turmoil causing her to shake in emotional pain. She blinks, and the tears let loose, staining her cheeks with grief and falling to the console.
Entrapta’s forehead wrinkles in despair as she looks wildly around her, her eyes darting from the frantic industry of her hair interacting with the console, the multicolored displays floating on either side of her, and the glowing image above her representing the energizing Heart. Nearly at full activation.
Entrapta’s eyes are panicked, her attention scattered.
But all at once, they stop their shifting gaze, focusing intensely on an invisible point in her mind.
Entrapta closes her eyes. Shutting out all distractions that are beyond her control.
She takes a deep breath and frowns in concentration.
Entrapta: [to herself] Time to think, Entrapta. Think.
