But Micah's forebodings turn out to be validated, as Bow and Glimmer receive a report from Adora that Mystacor is gone!
Now, we return to Beast Island to discover what plan Entrapta could possibly have that will save her and Wink from an attack by hundreds of mercilessly adorable and blood-thirsty pookas!
Enjoy!
EPISODE 59: Good Will Tour
Tonight, as Entrapta and Wink stand huddled together within a mass of Entrapta’s prodigious locks, staring at the terrors closing in around them, Beast island lives up to its name.
Pink glows from the eyes of innumerable small but ravenous creatures draw nearer and nearer to converging over them in an overwhelming mass. Any possible escape route has long since been eliminated, and the intent of the predatory pack surrounding them is undeniable.
Wink shivers at the ominous drone of hundreds of snarling pookas. Entrapta, by contrast, seems invigorated, electrified by a sense of eager expectation.
And the crashing approach of something very large and dangerous is getting louder. The pookas have momentarily stopped in their advance, their growling pitched up to a feverish screeching. They are on the verge of pouncing.
And something huge is about to emerge from the twisted forest.
Entrapta’s eyes are wild with the delicious tension.
Entrapta: [to Wink, almost breathless] Here it comes!!
In a terrific wrenching of techno-organic limbs, a huge metallic paw pushes open a gap into the clearing, and with a leap, a massive and powerful form lands four-footed in the space behind the pookas. There is a momentary silence, disturbed only by Wink’s sharp gasp and quiet moan, as he stares upward at the towering, hump-backed creature.
Then, all at once, the pookas explode into activity, turning en masse toward the giant newcomer. Like puppies, they scurry around it, hopping excitedly up and down making friendly yipping sounds. The huge metallic creature sits back on its haunches, and extends a fore-paw. Several of the pookas leap happily into the great hand, then up onto the creature’s shoulders. With its other hand, the gentle creature tickles and scratches and pets some of the other pookas in a playful manner.
Entrapta: [ecstatically] Yes!! It worked! [proudly] Good girl!
She relaxes her hair, and it slips off of Wink’s shoulders. With care-free excitement, Entrapta skips closer to the cavorting pookas. Wink blinks in wonderment as he watches the little creatures streaming by, ignoring him completely, and now without any trace of threat.
Entrapta whirls around, her hair swirling joyfully, a huge smile on her face.
Entrapta: It’s just as I predicted! The tech from the First Ones that I incorporated into Lucinda’s design has allowed her to interface with the indigenous life forms and facilitated a network of social bonding! She’s making friends, Wink!
Wink stares at her, smiling weakly and unsure. His expression is largely blank.
Entrapta: Oh! Right. Introductions. [She gestures toward the massive metallic creature] This is Lucinda! She’s a robot. [cheerfully] I assembled her here, so she knows the island better than anyone! Darla and I had to leave in kind of a rush last time, so Lucinda stayed behind. But I promised I’d come back for her. And here we are!
Suddenly, Entrapta grabs Wink around the waist with her hair, and he flinches in surprise. Entrapta turns to hold him up at about the level of where you might expect the big robot’s eyes to be. She calls out loudly over the noise of yapping pookas.
Entrapta: Hey, Lucinda!
The robot straighten’s up and shifts its torso to face in Wink’s direction.
Entrapta: This is Wink! He’s a clone! My best friend’s brother. Aaaand, he’s my new lab assistant!
Lucinda lifts up one enormous hand and waves it back and forth. Wide-eyed and smiling, Wink enthusiastically waves back. Entrapta gently lowers him back down beside her. Then she runs toward Lucinda and jumps, landing against the robot’s great leg and wrapping her hair and arms around it in a double hug. As she presses her cheek to the metal surface, she closes her eyes and grins.
Entrapta: [lovingly] Ah, sweetheart! It’s so good to see you again!
Entrapta opens her eyes, unwraps herself, and drops to the ground amongst the bouncy, friendly pookas, who look up to her expectantly. She turns toward Wink.
Entrapta: Well. Let’s go!
As Wink steps forward, a hatch opens up on the head of Lucinda in a way that resembles the parting of square-toothed jaws. Entrapta deftly vaults up and in by springing on her ponytails. She leans down over the side and gestures to Wink.
Entrapta: Come on, Wink! Lucinda can take us to the heart of the island.
She trails down her hair, and Wink grabs the strands as a help to clamber up and into the cockpit. At the last little bit, Entrapta’s hair pulls back and flops him into the seat beside her. A pooka from the top of Lucinda’s head drops down, landing squarely onto Wink’s lap. He looks down, startled, into the face of the smiling, panting creature.
Wink: Oh! Ah . . . hello!
Entrapta looks over with enthusiastic approval.
Entrapta: Oh, good. You’re making friends, too!
Wink: [wonderingly, with a little smile] I am?
Four more pookas suddenly drop into the cockpit with them, leaning in affectionately against Wink’s sides.
Wink: [smile fading] Ohhhhh.
Entrapta reaches up and flips the mask of her helmet over her face, nearly simultaneously as Lucinda closes the hatch and seals the cockpit.
Entrapta: [encouragingly] Go, girl!
Lucinda launches herself forward and bounds off into the thick of the eerie, glowing forest, with pookas hanging crazily from her limbs and back. Her occupants bounce around lurching within her.
Entrapta: [with gleeful delight] Hahahahaha!! This is gonna be goooood!
